The BIG 0 - 5!!!

How can our baby be 5 already?!? The birth-weekend (apparently we don't do birthDAYs anymore) started off Friday morning with a magician in the classroom...

Saturday morning Her Royal Highness awoke to a steaming cup of cocoa

Let the royal present opening begin! (at 6:30 a.m.)

For breakfast, a queen-size chocolate chip pancake!

Her Majesty prepared for a visit with the common people of OB

More presents!!! (Our "small" family party...)

"Let them eat cake!!!" (Well, let them eat cupcakes...the fairy cake was too pretty to share with the peasants!)

Caden dives in for his share of the Crown Jewels...

Her Royal Silliness demonstrates how she can be just like one of us!

Revisiting the glory of the party with more present play this morning.

Apparently during the night a little mouse had been tempted by the Royal Cake; if we find out who did this..."Off with his head!"

The Rescue

Long ago, before mankind came to be, there was a species called Aniphiuts. They could change themselves into any animal there was. They fought in a war that had been going on for centuries against the dragons, their sworn enemies. In a small town called Seferia lived Fay. Her father was in the war, as many of the Aniphiuts of the town, and this caused great worry amongst the town people. At least, thought Fay, we have not received…the Message. So Fay and her family were comforted by the thought for a while, but then, it came.

One night, as Fay was staring at the stars from her room upstairs, she noticed one of the stars was moving steadily closer. As it came, the star became two stars. Then she realized what the two stars were.

They were eyes.

Hawk eyes.

Message Hawk eyes.

Silently, she begged the Hawk to turn around, go to a different village, or at least to a different house, but no. It kept coming. Fay reluctantly opened the window for the bird. As it flew through the window, it transformed, so by the time it landed, it was no longer a Hawk, but a Human.

“Griffen!?” Fay exclaimed. Griffen, a close friend of the family, spoke with a somber look on his face.

“All the trained messengers were gone on missions and they needed someone to bring your family the letter so I volunteered, said I knew the way.” You see, only trained messengers got to carry messages so Fay figured what Griffen was carrying was not Papa’s monthly letter. As he turned to leave Fay shouted, “Wait! Stay with us for a couple days, or at least say ‘hi’ to Mama and Toby. Please?”

He sighed, “Alright, but then I have to get back to the fight.” Fay smiled and made griffen a bed for him to sleep in for the night. Fay fell asleep soon after, feeling wonderful. Her wonderful feeling would not last long though.

“OH MY GOSH!” Fay leaped out of bed prepared to transform and attack. Then she relaxed. “Toby!” she said, “Don’t do that!”

“B-b-but it’s—“

“I know, it’s Griffen, knuckle head! He came last night with a letter for Mama and – wait a minute, why are you in my room this early?”

Toby grinned sheepishly and held out some of Fay’s candy from her stash. “Gimme that!” she said, snatching the candy from his hand. Then he dashed off down the stairs. Griffen slowly sat up and said sleepily “what happened?” Fay ignored him and flopped down grumpily on her bed. Giffen yawned. “I’m going downstairs,” he said and went down. Better follow him, thought Fay, so she grabbed the letter and bounded down the steps...
